Over the course of the 2023-2024 school year, I leveraged my universal instruction to include intentional and consistent use of Exemplars tasks.  My students worked to build their capacity to solve complex problems by identifying what "quality work" looks like, having rich discourse about problem-solving strategies, and frequently immersing themselves in the problem-solving process.  Students self-reflected on each task and identified areas of growth for each subsequent problem. 

My district uses a diagnostic assessment to progress monitor student learning throughout the year.  I strongly believe that the culture and mathematics-rich classroom created by using Exemplars tasks contributed to moving my students from 55% of students meeting grade-level standards in the Fall to 86% in the Spring.
