Your students deserve rich learning opportunities in math. How can you keep them engaged and incorporate best practices in a remote or blended environment? Join Exemplars expert, Robin Moore, to get practical tips on using an Exemplars performance task as the center point for engaging students in conceptual understanding, application, and procedural fluency.

In this session, we'll take a journey through the problem-solving process using a variety of free technology tools to launch an Exemplars task, explore different strategies and representations, participate in rich discourse and collaboration, and provide feedback to students. With a focus on introducing different technologies that can be used at each of these phases, teachers will develop the confidence to engage their students remotely.

Some of the free tools and technologies we’ll explore include:

Pear Deck, Seesaw, Flipgrid, Padlet, Poll Everywhere, Jamboard, Brainingcamp, Whiteboard.fi, Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Forms, the camera on phones and tablets, chat boxes, Zoom, and digital rubrics.

Learning Goals:

  • Understand how free technologies can help us engage our students as we work through the various stages of the problem-solving process
  • Explore how to use Exemplars problem-solving performance tasks as a strong foundation in your mathematics curriculum
  • Remember to have fun teaching our students whether working remotely, in a blended classroom, or fully in person
