Dinah Chancellor

Background

Dinah Chancellor is a professional development consultant and mathematics task writer and editor for Exemplars. She holds two Master's Degrees in education. The first is from Texas Woman's University and focuses on Supervision and Gifted Education. The second is from Texas A&M University and focuses on Mathematics Education.

Dinah has taught children to use reasoning and creativity to solve problems throughout her career. In her home state of Texas, she has been both a teacher and leader in mathematics. She has taught students in special education, mainstream, and gifted and talented classes. She brings additional experience as a former Instructional Coordinator for grade K-12 Mathematics, Science and Gifted and Talented.

Dinah has reviewed the NCTM elementary journal, Teaching Children Mathematics and developed the "Calendar Math" column, serving as its author/editor for the first three years. She has also held the positions of Treasurer, Membership Chair and President for the Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics and chaired the Board of Directors for the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching in Texas (CAMT).

• Outstanding Teacher Award Recipient, 1994. Given by the Development Council, College of Education, Texas A&M University.
• E. Glenadine Gibb Award Recipient, 2003. Given by the Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics recognizing outstanding service at the state and/or national level in the field of mathematics education.
