Carol McNair is currently a finalist for the Presidential Award as Vermont's outstanding mathematics teacher. Carol returned to the classroom to teach mathematics at Camels Hump Middle School in Richmond, Vermont, after she served as the coordinator of mathematics portfolio assessment for the Vermont Department of Education. As coordinator, Carol was responsible for leading benchmarking and assessment sessions for the state, and developing training materials and programs for helping Vermont's teachers implement the state's standards-based performance assessments.

Carol holds a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Vermont.
